• March Update

Thought I had not posted on my blog for a while, really must make more time to do this but I need to find some more hours first!

Things have been picking up in the last couple of weeks which is encouraging, it seems that the last 6 months has been nothing but doom and gloom making everyone seem depressed with what’s happening in the world. I have now taken the approach that I am not reading any more newspapers and that I am going to have a positive mind frame to ensure that Find Me A Tradesperson remains the number one place which customers call upon when looking for trade’s people.

The business is strong and hopefully in a few weeks I will be moving to a new office which is really exciting for me and a big step I will keep you informed of how it all goes!

If you would like to be included on my monthly email newsletter drop me an email and I will add your details, have special offers most months - take a look!

    Have a good week

  • The January Blues!

I have realised that I have not blogged since Christmas and thought I should bring you up to speed on how things are going.

Well I know most of the country shivered with the cold spell we had just after Christmas and here at Find Me A Tradesperson we were inundated with requests for corgi engineers to fix broken down heating systems and in most cases were able to help most customers very quickly. I was very impressed with my plumber Rob who managed to help one of my customers who had come home to find a massive water leak in her house, considering it was gone 8pm and he was watching football in the pub he helped a damsel in distress - thanks Rob!

Over the coming months I will be working very hard behind the scenes on improving our business and services and would welcome any suggestions in what you would like to see us provide or areas of the website we can improve on.

I look forward to hearing from you all!

  • Stencilling - Do you remember the 80s

I chuckled this week when I read (in the Mail) how many people had stencilling on a wall in their house. If my memory serves me right I can remember my parents were really into stencilling swirly flowers with ruched blinds - remember them!

Well now stencilling and rag rolling effects on neutral walls and been named the most tastless home design in the last 20 years! Runner up to horrible fads include mirrored wardrobes which were popular in the 90s and I am sure there are still many homes with these fitted in!

Here is a list of the top 10 - happy reading!

    1. Paint effects (rag rolling, stenciling, sponge finish 2. Mirrored wardrobes 3. Patterned tiles 4. Animal statues 5. 80s colour schemes (hunter green, teal, peach and salmon, red, blue and black and white) 6. Net curtains 7. Wall mounted TVs 8. Water features 9. Magnolia paint 10. Futons

So if you are stuck in a time warp and want to bring your home screaming into the 21st century then give us a call and we will get you started!

  • Revamp your existing bathroom - on a budget

Revamp your existing bathroom – on a budget

The Bathroom Surgery (Affiliated with Find Me A Tradesperson since 2007) aims to provide a cheaper, quicker alternative to bathroom suite repairs and refits.

This service is provided to customers who want to repair their bathroom suite fittings whether it is Acrylic, Cast Iron, Steel or Porcelain whilst in situ at a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Customers now have the option to have any damage i.e. chips, cracks or scratches fixed in situ on any type of bathroom suite surface.  It’s surprising the amount of baths etc. which suffer from impact chip damage from a dropped shower head or have suffered scratches/gouges to the surface.

The main causes of unsightly or embarrassing stains are usually due to a build up of lime scale over time on the surface or surprisingly paint splashes when people decorate their bathrooms.  These can all be removed from the suite item leaving them feeling silky and smooth, as they should be and a pleasure to use.

There service also offers a finishing option of an extreme deep clean and polish to bring back the original luster of the suite item.

If a customer is tired of their bathroom suite colour or if there is substantial damage which cannot be repaired by a chip fix there is a solution.  we are able to re-enamel any surface of any bathroom suite fitting from a choice of thousands of colours.  From Flamingo Pink to Snowflake White the choice is vast.  The customer simply selects the required colour to suit there individual taste giving them custom coloured bathrooms or simply re-colouring to match existing items.

All of these options can be applied to all types of baths, sinks, toilets, tiles, shower trays etc.  Why replace when you can re-juvenate or re-finish?  Why go to the expense of having to re-plumb, re-tile and re-floor?  Try ‘The Bathroom Surgery’ Dial 0117 9073657 for a free no obligation quote.

  • New laws regarding planning permission as of Oct 08

I know most people who want to extend their home or make major home improvements have always found the aspect of applying for planning permission a daunting one. With the ever ending news of the credit crunch (don’t get me started!) people are struggling to move and look for alternative ways to improve the space they a craving.

It is estimated that over 5 million people are looking to have major work done on their homes. With the planning rules in England now changing as from the beginning of Oct 08 you won’t need permission to convert your loft or add a rear extension. These new rules will make the process of improving you home easier; however as a rule it’s always worth contacting your local council www.planning.southglos.gov.uk or www.bristol.gov.uk as it could involve some building regulations.

Before you go ahead with any home improvements did you know that you are supposed to tell your home insurer before starting work, this is to ensure you home is adequately insured for the full amount and heaven forbids anything happens could invalidate you insurance if you make a claim and they are not aware of your plans.

To obtain more information please contact your local council directly.

If this hasn’t put you off I do know a good architect - happy planning!
